& District Lions Club
We
continue to support our local community. We plan to
support the young people of West Fife through our Lions Youth Programmes. Lions
throughout the world have always been active in supporting projects to help
eradicate blindness, we will continue to support Lions Clubs International
"SightFirst II" Campaign and MD105 (UK & Rep. of Ireland) Lions Eye Health Programme.
For our 2005-2006 project we continued to support the local Women's Aid as we saw the need when houses were allocated to the women and in many instances there were children involved who also required our support. Several of the houses allocated were in need of general maintenance and decoration to give them some feel of becoming a "home"
Club members also took on a project at Caberfeidh Nursing Home in Kinghorn, Fife. They transformed a courtyard to a beautiful sitting area for the residents.
In 2005 Dunfermline Folk Club & Inverkeithing Scottish Step Dancers supported us on several occasions, they always provide a very high standard of entertainment without any financial reward to themselves. We held a couple of Folk Nights when both these groups again supported our Club raise funds for our Lions Charity Fund.
Our 2003-2005 project was supporting "Women's Aid" in West Fife by decorating homes allocated to families who have need of the Refuge's support. Decorating was done in conjunction with the requirement of the families to help give them a fresh start.
We agreed to continue our initial project which included painting & hanging wallpaper and extended it so we now supply some furnishings and lay some new floor coverings.

the year we also support several other projects both at
home and throughout
We respond to disasters whenever they occur both at home & abroad. We contributed to Lions International appeals in support of those affected by the floods in Cornwall, Asian Tsunami Appeal, the Beslan Appeal and the hurricane damage in USA. We contribute annually to the local West Fife Chernobyl Link in support of children from Belarus visiting Fife. We also donate Lions Clubs "Special Olympics" fund.
