Groups & Individuals We Supported In Previous Years

A group we supported as we approached Christmas 2003 was the local "Toastie Club". The Bethany Christian Trust set this up in Dunfermline to support local homeless. Managed by Bill McNicol and his volunteers, they supply hot food and drinks every Thursday. They also offer some clothing which is donated by the people of Dunfermline. Dunfermline Lions donated 6 sleeping bags, 6 sets of woolen hats & gloves to be distributed on a "need" basis.

We also supplied 50 toiletry packs which  were given to all those attending the Christmas party organised by the Toastie Club. This is just one of the many local projects we will continue to support in the future.

Our 2002-2003 project was supporting the Cowdenbeath Resource Centre with landscaping to make an area accessible for wheelchair users and build raised flower beds, a floral archway and perhaps some seating within the garden area.

Our 2001~2002 Project was supporting Disability Sport West Fife with equipment to help those with special needs to participate in sport. Most of the equipment required varies from the standard sports equipment and due to the varied disabilities more variety of equipment is required. Dunfermline Lions are delighted to continue our association with Disability Sport in Fife.

Our 1999~2000 Project was decorating rooms and landscaping gardens at flats for Special Needs residents in Dunfermline & Rosyth run and supported by Capability Scotland.

We completed our 1998~1999 Project by supplying 13 Tacade Packs to local Primary Schools, the Lions sponsored 'Skills for the Primary School Child‘ programmes

Our 1997~1998 Project we converted a garage in Kingseat, Dunfermline into a Snoezelen (Therapeutic) Room for Aberlour Child Care Trust.

In support of Radio West Fife (Hospital Radio) we donated an upgraded computer including modem, VDU, keyboard, mouse and printer. We also held a Race Night which was voted a great social evening. This was supported by members of both organisations and their friends. A great evening with Radio West Fife benefiting by a further £400.00 as part of the evenings profit.
